New spy drone has 1.8 gigapixel camera

A gigapixel is a thousand times larger than a megapixel, which means a 1.8 gigapixel image is pretty huge. The U.S. Army, along with Boeing, has developed and is preparing to deploy a new unmanned aircraft called the “Hummingbird.” It’s is a VTOL-UAS (vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial system). Three of them are being deployed to Afghanistan for a full year to survey and spy on Afghanistan from an altitude of 20,000 feet with the ability to scan 25 square miles of ground surface.

While the Army has deployed spy drones like this before, the Hummingbird is special in that it is a VTOL craft rather than a traditional airplane. That means that it uses a design and operates in a similar fashion to a helicopter. As a VTOL craft, the Army will not require long runways to be able to launch it into the air.The Hummingbird drones will be equipped with the ARGUS sensor suite from DARPA. The ARGUS program promises that the sensors will be able to capture real-time, high-resolution, wide-area video for surveillance. Prior to it being outfitted on the the Hummingbird, the ARGUS sensor array had never been used in the air — the ARGUS system being what gives it the 1.8GP resolution.

The ARGUS array is made up of several cameras and other types of imaging systems. The output of the imaging system is used to create extremely large high-resolution mosaic images and video. This technique is used by artists as well, and it is often referred to as gigapixel imaging, since few actual gigapixel cameras exist. A more limited form of this is the panoramic imaging technique used on phones like the HTC Amaze 4G and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, where multiple shots are stitched together to create the panoramic image.

Anger at Nelson Mandela media spy cameras

The police action follows disclosure of the existence of hidden surveillance cameras to spy on Mr Mandela's tribal home in the rural village of Qunu, in the Eastern Cape province, in preparation for coverage of his death. Mr Mandela moved to Qunu a few months ago after a major health scare in January when there were fears he might not survive. It is widely accepted that Mr Mandela's move to his small village home marks his definitive withdrawal from public life. His death, when it occurs, will be one of the world's biggest news events in years.

The disclosure that Associated Press and Reuters have had spy cameras installed opposite Mr Mandela's home, in one instance for as long as six years, has, however, caused uproar.Spy Cameras for Sale - Discover How to Find Spy Cameras for Sale Online.Police have removed two cameras and are seeking others that they believe are placed elsewhere in the village."Cases against at least two media houses have been opened," police spokesman Vish Naidoo said, adding that they faced criminal prosecution under the National Key Points Act. "All presidents' residences are declared national key points. No person is allowed to film a part or whole of the national key point."

Another police spokesman, Mzukishi Fatyela, said: "The cameras were put there without the knowledge of Mr Mandela or the authorities."But a spokesman for Associated Press said: "The cameras were positioned some time ago, with the knowledge of the authorities. The cameras are not turned on. They are not spying on Mr Mandela's home. They are part of the preparedness that AP and other large news organisations customarily make in the event of a major news story involving a former world leader."The spokesman added: "We had similar preparedness outside the Vatican ahead of Pope John Paul II's passing."Mr Mandela, known to be extremely frail, has not been seen in public since the closing ceremony of the soccer World Cup last year.

Spy Cameras for Sale - Discover How to Find Spy Cameras for Sale Online

Such video cameras are a good alternative for areas where there is no power outlets. You will discover 2 kinds of electric batteries - dry cell that will be dumped as swiftly as their power was drained; and wet mobile which shouldn't be ditched whenever their power ends. Alternatively, these wet cell or inbuilt batteries is often recharged, but the drawback is that they usually have a shorter lifespan as opposed to that of dry cell batteries, which can last for days or maybe weeks, while most wet cell batteries do not last a week. Wet cell batteries are always costlier as opposed to dry cells. While you may usually buy dry cell batteries around $3, you could pay as many as more than $200 for top wet cell batteries!

So, when you buy a security and safety camera, it will be sensible in making an inquiry about the battery which include whether the camera takes advantage of dry or wet phone batteries. If it applies dry cell batteries, ask just how many batteries it uses, much more dry cell batteries suggests more power. If them uses wet cell electric battery, ask if they can be lithium ion which stay longer.Possibly the best cause of wireless cameras must really do the internet. The Camera That Changed Hollywood

In Hollywood history, 2011 will go down as the year during which the last three companies still making traditional 35-millimeter film cameras—the gently whirring behemoths that directors sit next to on movie sets—all said, in effect, that they were getting out of the business. Film cameras would remain in inventory, but Panavision, ARRI, and Aaton announced that from here on out, all their new models will be digital.Do You Know Where The Hidden Security Cameras Are ?

The analog-to-digital transition that is occurring in industries around the world is largely responsible. But special mention should go to a small Southern California company whose technology has stirred the imagination of a roster of legendary directors. The innovation: a line of digital movie cameras that, almost miraculously, are smaller, lighter, and cheaper than film cameras, yet have comparable image quality. That interest in cameras, says Schilowitz, was a logical extension of Jannard's Oakley business, which also sold prescription glasses and protective goggles for athletes. "Jim is obsessed with the way the world sees things," Schilowitz says.

Red Digital Cinema Camera Company, located in Irvine, California, was founded in 1999 by Jim Jannard, who had no experience in the movie business. He was, instead, an entrepreneur who had made a fortune with his line of Oakley sunglasses—must-haves among the California fun-and-sun crowd. While Jannard is an active participant on Red's user forums, he rarely gives interviews to reporters. Ted Schilowitz, who is something like the CEO of the 400-person company (it eschews formal titles), says Jannard originally became intrigued by the idea of a digital camera that would be a no-compromise alternative for feature-movie makers.

Do You Know Where The Hidden Security Cameras Are ?

Hidden security cameras are common objects that people are used to seeing everyday. They are usually working objects to keep the deception level high. These objects are so common that they can be used in your home, office or a business setting without people realizing that they are being recorded. That is the object of a hidden camera to catch people doing things they shouldn't be doing.Spy cameras can be anywhere. And the beauty of a hidden camera or spy camera is that they blend in so well in so many different places that nobody would think twice about the fact that they are being recorded. That is exactly what you want.

Do you know where the hidden security cameras are? Probably not! The next time you see an alarm clock, a wall clock, a CD player, a down view smoke detector, a thermostat, an exit sign, a desk lamp, an air freshener, or any of 40 other items there may be a hidden camera inside. Most have similar options of recording in color or black-and-white images and doing it in a wired or wireless fashion.A spy camera can be an even better deterrent than a burglar alarm or a security guard. A camera can be used to identify the bad guys catching them red handed indoors or outdoors.

Some wireless cameras have a high power option which adds another 1500 feet to a wireless transmission for a total of 2500 feet. Another option is to include a DVR into the product. A regular hidden camera doesn't record images at all. So if you want to record this may be the way to do it. Not every camera has that capability. The uses for a covert hidden camera are endless. There are home, office and business applications. Undercover law enforcers and government agencies have been using them for years but now they are priced so low that anyone can get one. And easy to use? You bet

Health care case adds pressure for cameras in Supreme Court

Now that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a dispute over the federal health care law, the justices are facing the strongest challenge to their ban on televised hearings.Members of Congress and news industry leaders have asked the court to allow the televising of oral arguments, to be held over five and a half hours during two days in March.A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll found that 72% of the people surveyed think the justices should allow cameras for those arguments. Several polls in the past decade have shown majority support for televising the court's arguments, in general.

The pressure from Congress, which included a Senate hearing last week on legislation that would require the televising of most arguments, and from outside interests following the health care case, could present a turning point in breaking down justices' resistance to cameras."I can't think of another case in recent years, except Bush v. Gore, that has generated so much public interest," says Sally Rider, former administrative assistant to Chief Justices William Rehnquist and John Roberts and now a University of Arizona law professor, referring to the 2000 Florida election case. How Spy Cams Make Life More Expedient  ?

"Now that I'm away from the court," Rider added, "it's incredible how often I hear people talk about wanting to see oral arguments. When they find out they're not on TV, they are shocked." Yet Rider cautioned that the justices might think if they say yes to televising the health care controversy, they would be pressured to open other arguments."I think it's inevitable that we'll have cameras in the court. The question is when," says New York University law professor Barry Friedman, who studies the judiciary and public attitudes. "This case would be a wonderful, object lesson in the work of the court."

How Spy Cams Make Life More Expedient ?

How Spy Cams Make Life More Expedient  ?

Thanks to cheap imports from China, a flood of spy cameras in all shapes and sizes is now available on the market. What was once the realm of Q and the Central Intelligence Agency has been made affordable for the masses. There are spy cameras embedded in silver pens, keychains, eyeglass or sunglass frames, neckties, and even "harmless" items like teddy bears and fake cereal boxes. Unfortunately, not many people find a use for such items, apart from corporate espionage or confirming a spouse's infidelity. For most people, it seems to be a case if inventing a need for a product without one: "Hey, this seems like a nifty toy. I'm sure I'll find a use for it."

However, there are hundreds of ways you can use a small video camera, and in the unlikeliest of places or situations too. You just need to be a little creative and you're sure to find ways on how this thing can make your life easier and more convenient.Depending on what sort you play, there are plenty of ways to record your performance either from a first person or third-person view. "Sports cameras" are available for activities which require a helmet, with some of the popular sports being skateboarding, freeboarding and cycling. There are also combat sport uses for airsoft and paintball which provide an action-packed replay of the game, which look like footages from Iraq.

Cameras for sports applications are generally tougher than the fragile ones used for IM chat. These feature toughened exteriors with rubber "armor"; waterproofed electronics, and anti-shock and vibration dampening technology. Unfortunately, these cams come at the cost of increased weight on the head or whatever part of the body they are attached to. The videos can also be a little nauseous to watch and can cause perceived motion sickness for most people. It's commonly used by corporate people to spy on competitors or by married couples to confirm if a spouse is cheating or not. Aside from those, it doesn't have much any practical use. Most people still haven't got any idea to use this "nifty toy."

Motorola Droid XyBoard Is Essentially The Xoom 2 With Verizon Branding

Hail the Droid XYBoard Android tablets. Yeah, they are two of them, each with a different display size but essentially the same set of specifications under the hood. On the skin they run almost the same software, Honeycomb OS, but with a nifty little differences. But before you clamp on that, let us tell that these seem to be nothing but the same Xoom 2 Android tablet and the Xoom 2 Media Edition tablet (see video after the break)  albeit with a Verizon branding that subsidizes it price in favor of a contract, and of course — lets you feast on LTE goodness it’s designed to take advantage of.

Tampa sets $2M ceiling for surveillance cameras at 2012 Republican National Convention

The first time Tampa priced surveillance cameras for next year's Republican National Convention, officials got sticker shock when the bids approached $5 million. So now the city has trimmed its plans from more than 200 cameras down to about 60. It set a top price of $2 million. And it cut high-tech novelties like helmet cams and unmanned drones from its wish list."All that stuff is very expensive, and we're on a budget, so we're going to have to be more prudent," Tampa police Assistant Chief Marc Hamlin said. "We thought $5 million was way too much to spend, so that's why we had to scale it down and tighten it up."

The city issued its latest request for proposals earlier this month. Responses are due Jan. 18, and the cameras must be in place by July 1.That's because police expect 10,000 to 15,000 demonstrators to converge when the convention meets Aug. 27-30 at the St. Pete Times Forum. In St. Paul, Minn., the site of the 2008 GOP convention, local officials told Tampa police the cameras not only helped them monitor the event but also created a visual record that was useful in the criminal prosecutions and lawsuits afterward.

The Real Secret of Secret Covert Spy Cameras.Money for the cameras will come from $50 million in federal funds that Tampa will get to provide convention security. An estimated two-thirds of that money will pay for the 3,000 to 4,000 law enforcement officers that officials think the event will require. But price and scope are just two of the differences in the city's latest request for surveillance camera proposals. In its first request, the city asked for prices for both buying and leasing the cameras.

The Real Secret of Secret Covert Spy Cameras

The Real Secret of Secret Covert Spy Cameras

To many people, secret covert spy cameras remain much more a mystery than they can comprehend. Many people find it so difficult to wrap their brains around how and why they work so effectively. You probably must have seen covert cameras used in TV dramas, news and movies. Many secret intelligence and law enforcement agents have used covert spy cameras to capture people who engage in illegal activities such as prostitution, drugs, vandalism and the like. TV variety shows have also featured them and made huge profits from such broadcasts.Nowadays, several security companies have discovered how interesting people find these equipments and they have been producing covert cameras in large quantities. They are now very cheap, highly affordable; built with better features with incredibly fascinating designs which make them more versatile and easy to use.

You may also remember that Gene Hackman starred in a movie where a secret smoke detector with inbuilt covert spy camera was used to capture a politician who actively engages in prostitution. Mission Impossible is another great movie where covert cameras were used extensively. Do not also forget dramas like NCIS, CSI Miami, Bones, and Criminal Minds, they use some of these wireless spy cameras extensively. However, if you're thinking of buying a covert surveillance camera, do not just pick up anyone on the internet; there are some necessary installation tips, smart covert camera buying guide you must know to use your covert cameras innovatively.

Years ago, only government intelligence agencies, Russian KGB, the CIA and various undercover law enforcement agencies could afford the high cost covert spy cameras because they were super expensive. In fact, they were very complicated pieces of equipment, difficult to operate and special wiz kids were often employed to configure and operate them as bugging devices. There's a report of how a certain man, Don Vitalio whose only son was killed in a robbery incidence at a gas station used some set of wireless surveillance bugging devices to capture his son's murderers without the help of the local police.

Recently released Google Maps imagery revealed puzzling patterns in the Gobi Desert in China. A researcher at the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University says they're used for calibrating spy satellites, helping to orient them in space.CloudFTP is a nifty idea for a gadget: it gives your camera, external hard drive or other device its own wireless connection. Connect it via USB to your digital camera, for example, and it can create its own wireless network to share photos with your smartphone. Or it can hook in to an existing WiFi network and upload your photos to an internet service such as Dropbox, if a connection is available. It uses a 2600mAh li-ion rechargeable battery.

US scientists produced an ultralight metallic microlattice by shining ultraviolet light through a pattern onto a liquid photopolymer to create a lattice-work scaffold. Then they coated the lattice with nickel-phosphorous. The result is a 3D hollow lattice of metal that is incredibly lightweight because it's mainly air. The metal can also be compressed to almost nothing and then expands again with very little damage. Since the metal is mainly air it weighs only 1 mg per cubic centimetre. The metal could be used forthermal insulation, dampening vibrations, absorbing energy, or electronic parts. Perhaps we need a new phrase: 'lighter than metal'.

How many cores does your computer have? Not as many as Intel's new 50-core 1 teraflop Knights Corner processor, I bet. It may not be showing up in your laptop for a while, but expect it in a supercomputer near you soon. Eyedrops are a nuisance, and their effect wears off within a few minutes. So if you have an eye condition that needs regular medication it's quite a bother. Researchers at Auburn University inthe USA have created contact lenses — corrective or not — that a person can wear continuously for up to 30 days.Surprise Everyone With This Mini Hidden Camera!

Personal cameras for cops good idea, but not in budget

Personal cameras for cops good idea, but not in budget

What Are The Features Of A Mini Digital Camera ?As Occupy Wall Street movements continue to grow in cities across the country, Tulsa police arrested six more Occupy Tulsa protesters Sunday night for violating curfew laws in public parks. At the same time, more police departments in the U.S. are giving officers portable video cameras, or "personal recording devices," to protect them against accusations of using excessive force."Verbal, or physical assault, or other things," Officer Jason Willingham, Tulsa Police Department Public Information Officer, said of the claims. "And those cameras certainly come in handy when we're trying to prove our innocence."

But Willingham says Tulsans shouldn't expect TPD officers to be wearing portable cameras or personal recording devices any time soon. At a thousand bucks a pop, there's no room in the department's budget to buy them for officers."We're still trying to get all of our patrol cars outfitted with dash cams," Willingham said. "So, that's our primary focus, because it was court-mandated.'But just up Highway 169, the Owasso Police Department now has personal recording devices on about 40 patrol officers.

"So far, it's worked very good," Sgt. Nick Boatman, Owasso Police Department Public Information Officer, said. "Everybody seems to be very happy with the results of it."Boatman says more video from more angles is always a good thing, even for an average traffic stop. Owasso officers also have dash cameras installed in their patrol cars. But, Boatman says, sometimes a dash cam isn't going to pick up a suspect's gun hidden in his pants or pocket. But having the personal recording device on as well can provide clear evidence of the gun, and justification for any action the officer must take because of the weapon.

Smile! You're On Cop Camera!

Smile! You're On Cop Camera!

The next time you talk to a police officer, you might find yourself staring into a lens. Companies such as Taser and Vievu are making small, durable cameras designed to be worn on police officer's uniforms. The idea is to capture video from the officer's point of view, for use as evidence against suspects, as well as to help monitor officers' behavior toward the public. The concept is catching on. The cameras have been adopted by big city police departments, such as Cincinnati and Oakland, Calif., as well as dozens of smaller cities, such as Bainbridge Island, Wash., where the Vievu camera was initially tested by Officer Ben Sias.

"The only thing that really was different about doing business is that I'd tell the person that we're being recorded," Sias says. Baca urged to place more cameras in jail.He sees the camera as a kind of insurance policy."In this job we're frequently accused of things we haven't done, or things were kind of embellished, as far as contact," he says. "And the cameras show a pretty unbiased opinion of what actually did happen."That makes the cameras particularly appealing in cities where the police have been accused of misconduct.

In Seattle, for example, the police department is being investigated by the Justice Department after a series of amateur videos showed police officers punching or kicking suspects. The problem with some of those videos, says Seattle City Council member Bruce Harrell, is that they often capture only part of an incident."What we have now are videos after the fact — the 'second punch' kind of situation," Harrell says. That's why Harrell wants Seattle police to start wearing cameras, too. He's asked the mayor to include money in next year's budget for a pilot project, equipping a handful of Seattle police with the cameras.

Baca urged to place more cameras in jail

Baca urged to place more cameras in jail

Sheriff Lee Baca, appearing Tuesday before the Board of Supervisors to report on what he is doing to prevent unprovoked violence by deputies against inmates in the county jails, was urged to speed up the installation of several hundred additional surveillance cameras.Baca, in uniform, appeared alongside a task force of four jail commanders he assigned to reduce the use of force in the lockups.“It is my intent to reduce force to the barest possible minimum,” to ensure that deputies are “not the provocateurs of force, but responders to need,” Baca said.

The use of force to manage the jail population had been averaging 45 to 50 incidents per month, but in October, there were 17 incidents, and only seven of those were significant, he said. The sheriff was forced to take action based on fallout from the Oct. 3 release of an American Civil Liberties Union report alleging the pervasive use of violence, intimidation and excessive force by deputies against inmates. The allegations were supported in part by eyewitness reports from private citizens volunteering in the jails, including a chaplain.

A former top rookie in the department also charged that his supervisor made him beat a mentally ill inmate at the Twin Towers jail and then tried to cover it up, the Los Angeles Times reported. The FBI is also investigating alleged abuses and corruption. The Times cited confidential internal department reports as evidence that high-ranking deputies were aware of the abuse as far back as two years ago, although Baca claimed those reports were not shared with him.“Before they get up to your command, somebody spikes them?” Supervisor Michael Antonovich asked.

Kendriya Vidyalaya students force school to drop spy cams

Kendriya Vidyalaya students force school to drop spy cams

Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Kozhikode have forced the management to switch off 16 closed circuit cameras, which were put up in the school recently. On Monday, students staged a protest, a rare instance, demanding the removal of cameras. They also wanted the school to lift suspension on five teachers who had supported students. The agitation forced District Collector P.B. Salim, ex-officio chairman, to intervene and direct the principal to switch off cameras.“We installed cameras to check trespassing and to ensure security within the campus,” said Principal Maya George. She told this newspaper that “the cameras were switched off temporarily on directions of the district collector”.

Tension had been brewing in the institution for the last few days as a section of students and teachers had protested against cameras in class rooms, corridors and even toilets.“Majority of the teachers supported our demand and five of them were suspended due to this,” said Nikhil K, a Class XII student.“We are not thieves or goons to be spied on,” he said. “How could they misuse welfare fund without consent of students and parents?”“We feel it is our duty to protest against the punishment imparted to our teachers for supporting our cause,” said another Class XII student Vishnu Datha.

Students called off their agitation after discussions held in the presence of the district collector who offered to relook into the suspension of teachers. “No action will be taken against students for participating in the agitation,” the collector said. That's Why Should People Use A Cheap Surveillance Camera ? However, school management claimed that the teachers were suspended on directions from higher ups for deliberately being absent during the post inspection meeting and for unauthorised unionism.

Why Should People Use A Cheap Surveillance Camera ?

Why Should People Use A Cheap Surveillance Camera ?

Homeowners may want to look into how using a system like this can help them. For many people, these systems can help deter theft and burglaries. In cases where crime like this has occurred, homeowners were able to give information about the perpetrators to law enforcement to assist them in making an arrest. Many parents have used these systems as nanny cam to watch babysitters for their children or caregivers for elderly members of their families. These have helped them monitor the behavior of these employees to make sure that they treat the family members properly. These have also been used to make sure that these employees did not steal anything of value or delve into any private areas of the home.

People can use a cheap hidden camera for these purposes several different ways. Many of these items resemble everyday objects like clocks. These can be used in areas of the home where homeowners feel the most activity may go on. They can also place small versions of these cameras inside other objects like books to obtain footage. People may also use versions of these on the outside of their home to see who enters their yards and what these people do once they are there. In some cases, the homeowner may be eligible for a discount on their home insurance if they have a form of surveillance in place.

Businesses can also make use of these units.GoPro Launches HD HERO2 Camera. These allow business owners to keep tabs on their employees so that all sales and cash handling transactions are recorded. If there is any question about supplies disappearing, the camera can record information about this type of activity. Owners can get more information about the work habits and activities of their employees to make sure that they behave in an appropriate manner. Using a cheap spy camera can assist businesses easily for many of these applications.

Canon loads EOS-1D X with new tech, hopes, and dreams

Canon loads EOS-1D X with new tech, hopes, and dreams

Canon's celebrating the 10th generation of its EOS-1 pro body with an overhaul, both of the hardware and the line itself. A consolidation of the fast, sports shooter with the high-resolution full-frame camera, the EOS-1D X replaces both the full-frame 1Ds Mark III and the APS-H 1D Mark IV with a single, double-grip full-frame model with fast continuous shooting. The price most closely resembles the 1Ds, though, at $6800.

That opens a big gap between the please-replace-it-already 5D Mark II and the new top of the line. And I suspect that when a 5D Mark III eventually surfaces (probably not until next year), it's going to be a lot more expensive--in part because of a weak dollar and the increased costs associated with the various natural disasters that have plagued production in Asia, and in part because Canon could probably get away with it. Especially if it incorporates some of the whizzy new technology (assuming it all works as advertised, of course) that's in the 1D X.

Where to begin? On the outside, you'll find an updated control layout, with some extra buttons joysticks designed to streamline shooting with the vertical grip. On the inside, there are new autofocus and autoexposure systems Importance of Sophisticated Spy Cameras in addition to the de rigueur new sensor with an enhanced dust-reduction system. It has an entirely new shutter mechanism. There are new features, including a 1000BaseT Ethernet port, 3 custom settings groups (finally!), and a 9-shot multiple-exposure mode.

Pen cams are popular spy camera , which are appreciated by the clients due to their compact size. These cameras come in different memory capacities, which can be chosen as per user's requirements. Operating a pen mini camera does not require any kind of expertise as it is a ready to use product. Further, before purchasing, one must ensure that this camera is capable of recording clear pictures during the night time without any lighting assistance. Spy cameras in the form of wall clocks and pen stands are used in homes and are known as nanny cameras. Parents use these cameras to monitor their children, while they are away from home. Usually parents fear that their maids do not take proper care of the children during their absence. Hence, they prefer to install nanny cameras in their houses.

Spy cameras are available in both wired and wireless form, which can be used as per the surveillance needs. A wired camera has a cable attached to it, which can be connected to the computer for the recording purpose. Wireless cameras are preferred as compared to wired ones as there is no hassle of connecting cable. Further, wired cameras can be easily carried from one place to another. However, the wireless mini camera must be charged, so that there is no obstruction in the recording process. Once charged, these cameras get longer battery backup as a result of which electricity is also saved. There are various online stores from which these cameras can be purchased. By making a thorough research, one can get complete information regarding the features and benefits of these cameras. Further, users can make a comparative analysis before making the final purchase.

What everyone ought to know about choosing a security cameras

What everyone ought to know about choosing a security cameras

The best security cameras come in a variety of models with different features and options. Optimally, the best camera system should be one which contains the best in video quality, internal storage, ease of use, control, motion detection, infrared, PTZ and internet streaming. However, a single camera having all these functions can be expensive. Moreover, even if you buy a high-end model with all the features, you should realize that you may not even use all the features. Therefore when searching for the bestsecurity cameras it is important to first consider your needs.

Probably, the first option that you should ask yourself is whether you will be requiring a digital (IP) camera, an analog camera or a mix of both. You should keep in mind that the video and image quality provided by digital camera is usually much better than what any analog system would be able to produce. However, some analog cameras still tend to come with the best panning, tilting and zooming capabilities which are hard to match by any current IP camera. As such, if your focus is on video clarity, the best security camera for your needs may be an IP camera; however, if you require greater control over your camera, an analog camera may be better.

Another factor that might determine your preference of the best security cameras is the amount of storage you require your security system to be capable of. Motion to drop astronaut's moon camera lawsuit denied .Generally, storage of analog systems requires heavily priced equipment and their playback capabilities can be quite limited. On the other hand, IP cameras do not require any equipment other than a computer for video storage. They can store as much video as you require and for as long as you require. Also you can quite economically increase the computer's hard disk to increase storage duration.

Motion to drop astronaut's moon camera lawsuit denied

Just who owns a camera flown to the moon — the astronaut who saved it as a souvenir or the government that wanted it left on the lunar surface — will need to be settled in court, a judge ruled this week.U.S. Wireless Camera – A clutter free surveillance system.District Court Judge Daniel Hurley denied Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell's motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought against him by the U.S. government last June.At contention, a 16-millimeter data acquisition camera (DAC) that Mitchell returned to Earth in 1971 and then attempted to sell 40 years later.

The government contended it has no record of the camera being given to Mitchell, who elected to remove it from the lunar module (LM) before parting ways with the spacecraft and returning to Earth. The LM, which Mitchell and Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard used to land on and launch off the moon, was destroyed after it was allowed to fall back to the lunar surface.Mitchell's attorney argued that too many years have gone by for the government to pursue the camera as stolen and besides, it was given to the now 80-year-old moonwalker as a gift in line with NASA's then-policies governing spent equipment.

Judge Hurley ruled that the statute of limitations as cited in Mitchell's motion and as defined by the state of Florida where the case is being heard did not apply to the federal government's claim. "'It is well settled that the United States is not bound by state statutes of limitation or subject to the defense of laches in enforcing its rights,'" Hurley quoted in his order, citing an appeals court ruling."Defendant's allegations that NASA intended the camera to be destroyed after the mission or that it routinely awarded used mission equipment to astronauts do not preclude as a matter of law Plaintiff's contrary allegation that Defendant impermissibly converted the camera," Hurley wrote.

Wireless Camera – A clutter free surveillance system

Wireless camera is one of the best solutions to protect your office or home. It is the preferred choice of many security conscious consumers; a part of CCTV assemblage these cameras primarily transmit audio-video signals to the wireless receiver. It is easy to set up, affordable and allows a clutter free installation. These cameras need to be close to the power socket as they need electric supply but there are other versions that are truly "Wireless"; they are powered by heavy-duty batteries.Palm Desert Public Safety Commission subcommittee eyes more security cameras in public places.

They are broadly classified into analogue and digital categories, depending on their mode of transmission.Analogue Wireless Camera generally tends to provide poor audio video footage while digital version produces excellent video and at the same time covers a wide area. The former option is cheap and not secure whereas the later is 100% secure but pricey. In its simplest avatar, CCTV Systemsare composed of a single camera which is connected to a display device via cable. This setup can also have a digital recorder in between for recording and limited broadcast.

Times have changed. Today, you can have multiple cameras installed in various places but view it on a single display device as montage of several video outputs. You can shuffle between various locations with the help of video switcher.Children, especially infants are vulnerable to dangers (injuries) even in the confines of their room. Palm Desert Public Safety Commission subcommittee eyes more security cameras in public places

A subcommittee of city staff, law enforcement, business owners and citizens will look further into the costs of placing security cameras in public places.A string of burglaries, a purse-snatching and a carjacking on El Paseo earlier this year prompted the city Public Safety Commission to explore putting the cameras along El Paseo as a way to deter crime. An initial report done by the city staff indicated more information is needed starting with where, if at all, cameras are needed.

Even though it was criminal activity along El Paseo that started the discussion, chairman Rick Lebel said at the commission's Sept. 14 meeting that he wants the subcommittee to look at other areas that could benefit. He pointed to University Dog Park, which was closed for several weeks after vandals toppled light poles, ripped out electrical and irrigation systems, stole copper wiring and damaged other parts of the facility on May 4, causing $42,000 worth of damage. What Home Spy Camera Do You Want ?

The subcommittee needs to decide if the benefits outweigh the costs of security cameras, which can only be done after camera locations are determined, said city risk manager Gary Rosenblum.“There are numerous streets from which people and vehicles can enter El Paseo. Do you try to cover a portion of those or all with cameras?” asked Lt. Andrew Shouse, Palm Desert's assistant chief of police.“In a perfect world, sure, I would love to have full coverage surveillance video of any public place in the city,” Shouse said.

Survey Finding Homeowners Make Break-ins too Easy Prompts Homeowners

A Consumer Reports National Research Center survey finds that all too often people make it easy for burglars to target their house or car."About half of all break-ins aren't break-ins but walk-ins," Bob Portenier, consultant, lecturer, and former burglar told Consumer Reports.Of those responding to the survey, 19% said they do not always lock their doors, 26% stated that their windows are not always locked, and 43% admitted to not always turning on their residential alarm systems when they are away.Officials from the Riverside Police Department in Southern California agree, noting it’s no time to be complacent about home and auto security.

"Families get in a hurry in the morning—kids going to school, running late for work, doctors' appointments, what have you—and forget to take that one or two minutes to check the doors and locks, usually on the back side. You have a pet, you let it out to do its business—and then forget the security French door or sliding glass door," said Portenier.“Deadbolt locks are helpful, as long as they are locked,” said Riverside Police Service Representative Nancy Castillo, who meets with neighborhood watch groups, seniors, and business organizations.

In addition to owning a house security system, there are many things you can do to make your home as safe as possible. Shrewsbury firm removes crime camera after mistaking it for competitor spy cam

A Shrewsbury home elevation company recently cut down one of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office crime cameras after mistaking it for a spy camera they thought might have been put up by the competition, according to authorities. The Sheriff's Office has several stationary crime cameras strategically placed throughout Jefferson Parish, allowing investigators to monitor high-crime areas or track stolen vehicles using license-plate recognition technology.Spy Cameras for Sale - Discover How to Find Spy Cameras for Sale Online !

But a representative with Active Solutions, the company that services the cameras for the department, contacted the detective's bureau on Aug. 26 to notify them that a camera located in Old Jefferson appeared to be missing, an incident report said.Detectives went out to check the telephone pole the camera had been attached to, and sure enough, it was gone. Only the straps and hanging wire remained. But an unidentified tipster told the detectives that an employee from nearby Coastal Shoring at 100 Arnoult Road had removed the camera, the report said.

The detectives stopped by the office and spoke with a man who identified himself as Coastal Shoring's "legal advisor," the incident report said. He admitted that an employee had cut down the camera, but did so because they thought it was tapping into the company's phone and power lines. The advisor also said Coastal Shoring officials thought the camera might have been put there by a competitor to watch the business, the report said. Representatives from Coastal Shoring did not return telephone calls requesting comment on Tuesday.

Another thing site notice about security cameras is that several use electricity that arises from power outlets, while other don't appear to have any wires in any respect. Wireless video security cameras do exist where they work off batteries. Such video cameras are a good alternative for areas where there is no power outlets. You will discover 2 kinds of electric batteries - dry cell that will be dumped as swiftly as their power was drained; and wet mobile which shouldn't be ditched whenever their power ends.

Alternatively, these wet cell or inbuilt batteries is often recharged, but the drawback is that they usually have a shorter lifespan as opposed to that of dry cell batteries, which can last for days or maybe weeks, while most wet cell batteries do not last a week.Samsung WB750 features 18X optical zoom, 24X Smart Zoom, full manual control.

Gilroy installs downtown security cameras to encourage visitors

Gilroy installs downtown security cameras to encourage visitors

For two hours on a recent sunny morning, Danny Chavez and his buddy Max Limones relaxed at a sidewalk cafe in downtown Gilroy, glancing every now and then at a public surveillance camera strapped onto a signal pole across the street. The town famous for growing garlic at the southern tip of Silicon Valley installed the camera last month, the first of six that by year's end will see and record almost everything and everyone in the heart of downtown, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Lots of cities use public cameras to deter terrorists, criminals and even red-light runners,Wet, Deadly and Expensive, but No Monster, but Gilroy had another reason in mind that would have flabbergasted Big Brother's creator, George Orwell. In his famous novel "1984," Orwell warned against absolute government power and oppression abetted by mass surveillance. But Orwell probably never saw Big Brother as a public relations flack.

"The intention is, first of all, to dispel the perception that our downtown is not safe," said Mayor Al Pinheiro. Police reported 43 crimes downtown during the first six months of this year. These included nine acts of vandalism, eight car thefts, seven burglaries, five assaults and five robberies. There was one shooting when a 13-year-old robbery suspect was shot in the hand by his would-be victim.

The camera at Fifth Street and Monterey Road looks like a bulging eyeball pointed straight down with lenses inside that can swivel 360 degrees and read a license plate a block away. But there won't be a human eye at the other end 24/7. Most days and nights, Gallacinao said, dispatchers or police officers will scan the monitors as they go along their usual duties at police headquarters. But they can zoom the cameras when somebody reports a crime in progress or review recordings for evidence after a crime is committed. Police will keep the recordings for at least one year.

Rivers and creeks turned into raging torrents tumbling with limbs and parts of buildings in northern New England and upstate New York. Flooding was widespread in Vermont, and hundreds of people were told to leave the capital, Montpelier, which could get flooded twice: once by Irene and once by a utility trying to save an overwhelmed dam.Meanwhile, the nation's most populous region looked to a new week and the arduous process of getting back to normal.

New York lifted its evacuation order for 370,000 people and said subway service, shut down for the first time by a natural disaster, will be partially restored Monday, though it warned riders to expect long lines and long waits. Philadelphia restarted its trains and buses."All in all," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "we are in pretty good shape."At least 21 people died in the storm, most of them when trees crashed through roofs or onto cars.

Different Types of Network Cameras

Different Types of Network Cameras

In the past a wired network camera system was a more reliable option than going wireless. Many companies still prefer the added security of a wired system. With a wired system a potential hacker would require a physical connection to the network. A disadvantage of a wired network camera system is the installation process.Mini Spy Cameras - Smaller the Better. It is very time consuming and disruptive if the building or home is not pre-wired for network cameras. In addition to the installation of a wired system it is an evasive process to repair a broken or damaged cable that is running though a wall.

A few disadvantages towireless network cameras are security and quality. Many wireless network cameras are susceptible to interference from outside sources. Wireless signals can also be intercepted by unauthorized personnel.

Many of today's network camera systems can be remotely monitored. This monitoring requires the system to be connected to a broadband internet connection and have software running to allow outside access to the video feed. These feeds can be monitored using another computer, PDA or smart phone. There are apps available for smart phones running both Android and iPhone operating systems. Software running on your system can notify you of activity in the areas being watched by your network cameras. Most new model cameras come with motion sensing capabilities that when triggered will email the owner a still shot of the area in question.

Criminals are more likely to go for the easy targets than those obvious security measures in place. In addition, as a result of your alarm being wireless, your installation options are plentiful.

Wireless cameras do not require as much accessory equipment, nor is there as much potential for damage by the elements or wildlife since there are no cords and complete weatherproof options are available. Having said that, you can freely purchase additional camera to add to your existing set up as your budget or needs require. Why Are Wireless Burglar Alarms The Preferred Choice For Many Families

Trying to decide if one of the wireless burglar alarms would be the best choice for protecting your family or if you should choose another type? There are numerous reasons why the wireless alarms are the preferred choice of so many people.Once you are aware of these reasons,Sony trims its profit forecast by one-quarter, you will easily be able to decide if a wireless system is your family's best option or not. 1. No wires - One of the biggest benefits for a wireless system is that it means exactly that, no wires to contend with. This means that anyone can easily install it and set it up.

It also means that you can ensure that all areas of your home that are vulnerable are secured because you can place the system or security cameras in any area you need it to be in since you don't have to deal with wires.

2. Easily secure vulnerable areas - With no wires to worry about, you can use security cameras to ensure that all of the vulnerable areas of your house have been secured. You can also use door and window sensors that are going to be effective to alerting you of danger and setting off your alarm if a burglar tries to get in so authorities can be notified.

You don't want to leave any vulnerable area unsecured because this is an open invitation to any burglar and with a wireless system you can prevent this from happening.

3. Security cameras - The use of security cameras is going to give you another level of security that will help ensure your family is well protected. Plus, you can add as many or as few cameras as are needed.

4. Add more security as needed - Not everyone can afford to get a good wireless system, plus security cameras, driveway sensors and other security options that will help keep your family as safe as possible. With the wireless system, you can easily start small with just the basic system and then add more security as you are able to afford it.

Sony trims its profit forecast by one-quarter

Sony trims its profit forecast by one-quarter

Sony Corp, Japan's largest exporter of consumer electronics, cut its annual profit forecast after a slump in demand led the company to lower its estimate for television sales.
Net income may total 60 billion yen ($772 million) for the year started April 1, the Tokyo-based company said in a statement on Thursday, revising its earlier projection of 80 billion yen. The company also cut its estimate for sales to 7.2 trillion yen for the year, from 7.5 trillion yen predicted two months ago.

Japan's largest exporter of consumer electronics slowed down production of TVs, cameras and Blu-ray discs after the March earthquake crippled its factories and disrupted supplies. Chief Executive Officer Howard Stringer, who has budgeted 14 billion yen this year to pay for the costs of the worst hack attacks on Sony ever, also confronts slowing demand in Europe and the United States.

"The economic slowdown, especially in the US and Europe, is leading to a significant drop in TV prices, worsening the industry's oversupply situation," Kota Ezawa, a Tokyo-based analyst at Citigroup Inc, said before the earnings. "Sony will need to promote more restructuring."New Mexico Judge Charged With Raping Prostitute.

The first-quarter net loss totaled 15.5 billion yen in the three months ended June 30, compared with profit of 25.7 billion yen a year earlier, the Tokyo-based company said. That missed the 2.5 billion yen loss average of three analysts' estimates compiled by Bloomberg.

Sony fell 1.1 percent to close at 2,013 yen in Tokyo trading before the announcement, widening its loss this year to 31 percent.Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average has slid 3.2 percent.Samsung Electronics Co, the world's largest maker of televisions, earlier this month reported a 26 percent drop in second-quarter operating profit after a slump in sales of flat screens masked a surge in demand for smartphones and tablet computers.

Murdoch presides over the criminal division for the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court and is a well known and respected judge who has been serving for 26 years.

If convicted, Murdoch could be sentenced to up to five years in prison. He was scheduled to be arraigned today. One of his most high-profile cases was the 2010 Desert Divas case, regarding a prostitution ring. He ultimately suppressed the prostitution ring's client list.Murdoch has also made rulings in numerous prostitution and rape cases and Albuquerque Police Department Commander Doug West said there is a "good possibility" that the judge's arrest "has the potential to put all the cases in jeopardy."

The alleged victim in the charges against Murdoch is an Albuquerque woman who said Murdoch contacted her after seeing her advertisement for sexual services online. She said she met with him and he took her to his home where she was paid $200 for sexual favors, according to court documents. The woman told detectives that she went to Murdoch's home eight times, and that he forcibly performed oral sex on her, despite her objections to oral sex. After he did this a first time, she said she hid a video camera in his room and recorded him forcibly doing this to her again amid her protests.

After the woman videotaped the incident, she began to worry about her safety and posed hypothetical situations to Murdoch about what he would do if a woman were to make allegations about him. She said he told her that "he would use the police and his connections to take care of the situation," according to the police affidavit released by the court.

Honest Tea company tests Chicagoans' honesty

The hidden cameras were perched in Grant Park near Buckingham Fountain. What they captured, at least from what we could tell during a few minutes of watching, were tentative creatures circling an odd structure constructed for a few hours. It was not as rib-tickling as watching the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam. Nor as raucous (read: salty) as the Honey Badger bit on YouTube. These spy cameras are Stylish and Powerful! Nope. The creatures in this case were human and the hidden camera was set up by Honest Tea  from  8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Calling it a "social experiment," the tea people placed unmanned pop-up stores featuring the company's bottled brews around the country on Tuesday, July 19. Bottles were available for purchase on the honor system, with a suggested $1 price. How many people took bottles from the Buckingham Fountain site and paid? And how many grabbed a bottle without paying? While we were watching, everyone coughed up cash or coins -- maybe they were Chicagoans, maybe they were tourists.

We'll have to wait until the results come in from around the country (OK, from Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Seattle, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.) to find out how honest Chicagoans are compared to the 11 other cities.Japan gave its women's soccer team the rock star treatment on Tuesday on their return from an astonishing World Cup triumph in Germany. Unused to the fanfare, the players filed quietly through the airport arrivals lobby in Tokyo, squinting as hundreds of excited fans snapped away with cameras.

Street by Street, Egypt Activists Face Old Guard

Street by Street, Egypt Activists Face Old Guard

After the fall of President Hosni Mubarak, a group of young activists quickly moved to bring the can-do spirit of Egypt's revolution down to the level of their neighborhood. They began installing electricity poles in Mit Oqba's dim streets. They got gas pipes extended to the area. They did what local officials had long promised but never done,Spy Camera Specialists Features the World’s Most Covert WiFi Spy Cameras on the Market, with the aim of showing 300,000 low-income residents the benefits of an uprising meant to end the corruption and stagnation under Mubarak.

Then the activists' parents started getting intimidating warnings: Your children are going to get beaten up by thugs. An official who helped them get papers signed for extending the gas pipes was suddenly transfered to another post.

The activists had run into a collision course with powerful local members of the former ruling party. It was a lesson about the new Egypt: The old regime is still in place and fighting change."The regime is not just Mubarak and his ministers. There are thousands still benefitting," said Mohammed Magdy, one of the activists in Mit Oqba.

Mubarak was ousted five months ago, along with top figures from his nearly 30-year regime. But the military generals who now rule have been slow in — or have outright resisted — dismantling the grip that members of his former ruling party hold on every level of the state, from senior government positions down to local administrations. In the meantime, public anger that real change has not come is growing explosive.

Prince William and Kate Middleton Visit Hockey Country

Prince William and Kate Middleton Visit Hockey Country

The royal couple continued to charm the local residents of Yellowknife Tuesday as they took part in Canada's favorite sport -- hockey. Prince William, who is famously athletic, seemed to be out of his element. He took three shots on an unobstructed goal during a street game with local players but couldn't land the puck in the net. New state commission to begin studying speed-camera use.

"He looked like he knew what he was doing," Calvin Lomen, 20, told the Associated Press. "I heard him say he doesn't know how to play, but it seemed like he had a natural talent if he practiced more." The prince even asked the young goalie to let him get a free shot in. Lomen said he really tried not to block the shot, but somehow Lomen saved what was supposed to be an easy in.

"He said, 'Please let the ball go into the net,'" Lomen said. "But it hit my stick instead, and I wound up saving it." One of the shots was aimed straight at the cameras and reporters stationed right behind the goal. The prince cheerfully laughed off his bad attempts. Kate, dressed in a cream-colored linen three-quarter sleeve dress by designer Malene Birger and high nude heels, decided not to take any shots on goal. She laughed off some of the calls from the crowd to play, and instead dropped the ceremonial puck to start off the game.

Afterward, the couple was presented with two Olympic team Canada hockey jerseys, printed with the last name "Cambridge" on the back. Kate, who has been popular among the crowds of young women and children, was presented with No. 1, while the future king was given No. 2. It seemed the majority of the 19,000 residents of Yellowknife, the capital of Canada's sparsly populated Northwest Territories, were all out to catch a glimpse of the charming couple. As the tour continued, the two seemed to be getting even more comfortable with the crowds and cameras.

New state commission to begin studying speed-camera use

New state commission to begin studying speed-camera use

A new state law forced Ridgeland to pull the plug on its controversial speed camera system last month, but the debate over the future of automated traffic enforcement in South Carolina won't end there.Remote Control Chopper Monitors Crops From Above As part of a law banning speed cameras and speeding tickets based on photographic evidence, a 13-member S.C. Traffic Enforcement Commission soon will be appointed to examine the ethical, legal and policy issues traffic cameras create.

According to state law, the commission will comprise representatives from state government, law enforcement and the S.C. Bar and Criminal Defense Lawyers associations. It must begin meeting "as soon as practicable." Commission members will not be paid, state law stipulates.

State Sen. Tom Davis, R-Beaufort, introduced an amendment to form the study group in February and said he will meet with Senate President Pro Tem Glen McConnell, R-Charleston, after the July 4 holiday to begin making appointments."I don't know if I'm going to be a member, but I'm certainly willing to serve on the commission if asked," Davis said.

The panel also is expected to include the president of the S.C. Sheriff's Association, an organization currently led by Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner. It is unclear whether Tanner will serve on the commission, as his term as association president ends July 12, said Sgt. Robin McIntosh, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. Fairfield County Sheriff Herman Young will take over as the group's president, McIntosh said.

State law assigns the commission to examine more than 20 questions related to the use of traffic cameras. Those questions include the constitutionality of mailing speeding tickets to alleged violators, whether the state has enough judges and magistrates to handle the increase in citations and whether the S.C. Department of Public Safety should be the only agency authorized to use the cameras.

A "stunned" Rod Blagojevich and wife Patti hugged in the courtroom after a federal jury in Chicago this afternoon convicted the former Illinois governor of attempting to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated when President Obama was elected in 2008, among the 17 guilty counts against him. His wife could be heard saying to him, "Let's just go home."A sentencing date has yet to be set but former federal prosecutors who have experience in federal sentencing guidelines say he's likely to get 7 to 10 years.

Leaving the courthouse, Blagojevich said he was "frankly disappointed" and "stunned." He was met by a small chorus of "boos" outside.Blagojevich was acquitted of soliciting bribes in the alleged shakedown of a road-building executive, according to the Associated Press. The jury deadlocked on two charges of attempted extortion related to that executive and funding for a school, the AP reported.Purchase on line wireless hidden spy camera.

The jurors told the judge this morning they had agreed on 18 of 20 counts, of which the most serious charges each carry a 10-year sentence. The verdict was announced this afternoon as dozens of people lined the streets outside the federal courthouse.Outside the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in downtown Chicago, a horde of media had been joined by dozens of Illinoisans, many with their cellphone cameras at the ready, according to the AP.

This is the second trial for the Democrat. A previous trial ended with a jury hung on all but one charge, although he has maintained his innocence. But federal prosecutors elected to bring the case again. The jury in the new trial -- eleven women and one man -- reached its decision after nearly 10 days of deliberation. Federal prosecutors streamlined their presentation after the first jury complained of an overly complex case. Last year's result was a hung jury on 23 of the original 24 counts, convicting Blagojevich on a single charge of making a false statement to the FBI.
