Free Motorcycle Mini Cam

The VCR Seth had is part of a VCR/DVD deck he's had for blfghf years, and the VCR section has predictably stopped operating. He wanted a new combo VCR/DVD deck to dub his old tapes onto DVD, and to have a DVD player in his bedroom.

But why dub from a dead format to a dying format? I've been in the process of dubbing old MiniDV camcorder tapes directly to my PC, which I can upload them, edit them, dub them to DVD or Blu-ray.

Speaking about the competition, Colin Mahoney , MD of motorcyclecompensation.com, is keen to emphasise that beneath the fun there's a serious edge: "We're delighted to be able to offer the 50 free mini DV cameras as part of our grand prize draw.  However there's a genuine point of safety to be made here.  Motorcyclists everywhere will benefit from using one of these - they're a fantastic way of recording a journey from beginning to end.  By combining high-resolution video with simple controls in one compact package, bikers can capture the details of their ride - great for keeping other road users honest in the event of an incident."

A lot of people have old camcorders and tripods gathering dust that could be put to good use when employed during video chats. Setting them up is simple. Mount the camcorder so that it's facing you. String the FireWire cable between your camcorder and the Mac. Switch the camcorder to the Camera setting. Launch the application you'll be using for the chat and in the application's audio/video preferences choose the external camera.
